Volunteer Tutors wanted for an hour a week at Wesley College

Deb from Karaka

Hi.
Two months ago Wesley College introduced a one on one literacy programme for some of its Yr 9 & Yr 10 pupils.
It is a fun and enjoyable way for people who have a one or two spare hours a week to engage with young folk, make a difference and meet other interesting locals.
You don't have to be worried about being trapped by this commitment. A tutor coordinator (me) will make sure that when you are unable to make it, or away on holiday, another tutor will take your spot so that the pupil doesn't miss out.
You don't need any particular skills or qualifications other than being able to read and a teacher remains in the class at all times while 10 tutors and 10 pupils work through a book and related tasks.
It is incredibly rewarding and makes a real difference.
Please give me a call if you think this might interest you.
Kind regards. Deb Cane 021745493

Emma’s wedding dress reveal tells a different love story

Possum Bourne Retirement Village

A Valentine’s-inspired wedding dress show at Ryman Healthcare’s Logan Campbell Village is providing the perfect opportunity for residents to share memories of their romantic day.

But for Emma Muller, it has also turned into an opportunity to celebrate her late daughter Nicola, who died 19 years ago at the age of 37.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
