Avonside Girls’ and Shirley Boys’ in lockdown

Christchurch high schools Avonside Girls’ and Shirley Boys’ have gone into lockdown as confirmed by the schools.

Shirley Boys’ High School website shares that the school has gone into lockdown due to a unauthorized person on site.

Avonside Girls High School website asks that no one comes to the school or phones the school as it may cause disruption to the management of this incident and could potentially place yourselves and/or our staff and student’s safety at risk.

UPDATE: Lockdown has been lifted as at 12.45pm Tuesday 23 May. You can find further details about the incident on the Stuff website.
