Seeking cricket players for social Saturday afternoon cricket
Are you looking to play a summer sport this year? The cricket season is just around the corner starting Saturday October 6.
My name is Kristin and I play for St Albans Cricket Club and run St Albans Phoenix, a men's 40 over Saturday afternoon social cricket team. My club St Albans is on the lookout for players of all ages (girls, women & men 15+) and skills. They are holding an Open Day at the St Albans Cricket Club clubrooms based beside Hagley Oval on Saturday September 28 from 3:15pm (wet or dry) where they will welcome and register all new players to the club.
I am after players to help me rebuild my Phoenix side from the ashes of last season. I'm open to first-time players through to those with more experience who want to play a relaxed and semi-competitive friendly afternoon game of sport.
Leave a message here with the tag #StAlbansPhoenix and I will get back to you. Alternatively check out the website www.stalbanscricket.co.nz... and register there.
Some Choice News!
DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.
Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.
For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.
Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?
We hope this brings a smile!
