Volunteers Wanted!
Dementia Canterbury is looking for some amazing volunteers to support our community-based activity groups! Many people with dementia lose their driver's licence and are unable to access other modes of transport, leading to increased social isolation. Our transport volunteers support them to get back into the community doing the things they love (groups include Art, Museum tour, DIY, gardening, swimming, walking and more!) through providing transport to and from these groups. If you have a few weekday hours free each week, fortnight, or month and your full licence we'd love to hear from you! Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
