Sparks
Saturday 15 February, 6.30pm to 10pm, North Hagley Park
Free family fireworks event led by the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra – cultural collaborations, traditional classics, modern day favourites and a few surprises.
Summer in the Styx
Sunday 16 February, 11am to 3pm, 303 Radcliffe Road, Styx Mill
Have a fun day in the sun whilst exploring one of Christchurch's brand-new regional parks with the Styx Living Laboratory Trust. Kayaking, guided walks, bird and water monitoring, planting, scavenger hunt, weaving and much more.
Music at Edmond Gardens
Sunday 16 February, noon to 4pm, Edmonds Factory Garden, 359 Ferry Road. An afternoon of free live music, afternoon teas $2.00. Chairs and/or rugs to sit on advised. Art display with plants and cards for sale. Free bouncy castle for children. Cancelled if wet.
Chinese New Year Parade
Sunday 16 February, 3pm to 5pm, Bridge of Remembrance to Cathedral Square. Organised by the Christchurch Chinese community to share the most important Chinese annual celebration. The parade from the Bridge of Remembrance to the Square through Cashel Street will be followed by performances by the paraders. Free.
Lazy Sundays
Every Sunday, 3.30pm to 5pm until 16 February, Archery Lawn, Christchurch Botanic Gardens. Free live music, picnickers welcome.
Summer Theatre – Treasure Island
Until 16 February, Weather Station Lawn, Christchurch Botanic Gardens
Wed-Sun 6.30pm Weekend matinee 1.30pm, Sword fights, live sound effects, ridiculous dancing and rapid-fire storytelling. Koha/donations.
Open Air Summer Shakespeare
Until 22 February, Mona Vale Gardens, Mona Vale Lane, Riccarton

Scam Alert: Bank cold calls
ASB is warning customers about reports of cold calls from scammers claiming to be from ASB. These scammers are trying to obtain personal information, including usernames, dates of birth, and verification codes sent to your mobile phone.
🛡️ The "Caller Check" Test
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from ASB and you’re unsure, just ask them for a Caller Check. You will then be able to verify the call through the app.
Remember, banks will:
❌ Never ask for your banking passwords, PINs, or verification codes
❌ Never need to know your full credit card number – especially the CVC
❌ Never ask you to download software or remotely access your device
❌ Never ask you to purchase gift cards or transfer funds.
