“When I walked in the door, I knew immediately I was going to live here.” On a typical day you could start out with a barista-made coffee and a treat at the café, get in your steps at the gym, or join neighbours for a game of pool before moving to happy hour.
“The village has a feeling of a resort hotel. I thought — it reminds me of that hotel in Spain.” Kate added.

New Zealand’s longest running photography studio, Standish and Preece, is showcasing a selection of its 75,000 images held in the museum’s collection that were captured from 1885 to 2020.
The photos, which include weddings, sport games, family portraits, school photos, kapa haka groups, graduation photos and more, represent the changing faces of Canterbury over more than a century at some of the most important events of their lives.
The museum put 32,000 of the collection’s images on its website during last year’s alert level four lockdown, asking the public to help identify many of the people and places photographed.
A further 43,000 images went live last week. Read more here.

When Erich Krogmann started the Food and Beverage Level 2 qualification, he had to learn how to balance study with a night job and a young family, but his main challenge came in the form of his hearing disability.
Erich says he thinks he’s inspired other people with a disability to take on training.

Teenage sweethearts who rekindled their romance after more than 50 years – and nearly 20,000 kilometres apart – are still waiting to reunite thanks to Covid-19.
Jock Anderson, 74, and Elizabeth Robertson, 73, were teenage sweethearts after attending Macandrew Intermediate School in Dunedin together in the 1960s.
The pair reignited their spark in 2019 after half a century apart when Anderson travelled to Scotland for a holiday and got in touch with Robertson, who moved there in 1972.
“As soon as I saw her, I knew the spark was still there,” Anderson said.
Their romantic story has been featured on The Times and BBC in the UK.
