Did you know that the Whareora Community House Activity Programme includes a Monthly Bus Trip? The next one is going to Conway Flat (Hurunui) on Wednesday 21 June, departing 9.30am. The cost is $30 p/p and includes a finger food lunch. Bookings Essential. Further information is available from our Office and Opportunity Shop, or send us a message. The Shop is open Monday to Saturday mornings, 10am-1pm. Look for the Blue House at 8 Athelstan Street, opposite Barrington Mall and close to the Medical Centre.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
