One year on the beat for our Community Beat Team

The Team from Canterbury Police

Its been a year since our Community Beat Team hit the ground running (literally), and have done over 3050 hours of foot patrols since starting in July last year to the end of April this year.

As a result, Christchurch has seen a huge reduction in robbery of 67%, unlawful entry by 29% and sexual assault by 16%.

Our communities can expect to see a continued presence as we continue to be highly visible, deter crime and prevent harm on our streets.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
