Paeony Cut Flower Show
Christchurch Paeony are holding their first Cut Flower Show on 27th November at The Kiosk in the Botanic Gardens. We NEED your flowers; one or many! (flowers can easily be cool stored in your own fridge - see below)
Entry is FREE. Register your approximate number of entries here: bit.ly...
To save flowers in the bud, you can cut the bloom in the 'soft bud' stage with approx 40cm stem. Strip the leaves and wrap the dry flower in paper and store in a bag on the fridge. Label with the name or description of the flower. Amazingly, the bloom will keep up to 8weeks and will rehydrate overnight with the stalk in water. Come and see all the varieties at the show. And/or join the club here: bit.ly...

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
