Support Miss Pinup New Zealand Finalist (Miss Kitty Kaos)

Kirsty from South New Brighton

Hi there,

My name is Kirsty, also known as Miss Kitty Kaos.

Originally from the UK, Mr Kaos and I have been lucky enough to call Christchurch home since 2014. As a construction Quantity Surveyor, I am heavily involved in earthquake rebuild work, spending my working days stomping around building sites in hi-vis, hardhats, and steel-capped boots. It’s not until after “tools down” that my passion and love for all things vintage and retro comes out to play.

I have a strong passion for retro fashion, particularly from the 50s and 60s. Through immersing myself in the New Zealand Pinup scene I have been fortunate to meet so many lovely ladies through attending hair and makeup workshops, and seeing them at car shows and events. The last 6-12 months have seen the Pinup scene in Christchurch explode. I’m part of a group called the ‘Canterbury Pinup Belles’ who like to organise events for local charities. We recently raised $1500 for a local pre-school by organising a Rock n Roll Dance in Christchurch.

I am lucky enough to have been selected as one of the top 10 finalists for Miss Pinup New Zealand, which is held at an event in Auckland called Very Vintage Day Out on 28th October (www.veryvintage.co.nz).
I am the only one from the South Island and need your suppot.
Online voting for ‘People’s Choice Pinup’ starts today (11th September), if you are able to help me share and promote this experience and this scene, please contact me by email (misskittykaos@outlook.co.nz)

Many thanks,

Kirsty

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
