Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board Draft Plan
Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board are developing their 2020-2022 Plan and they’d like to hear your feedback. Their draft plan contains nine priorities which the board will focus on during the term. The draft plan currently states the nine priorities as:
>Work with Council staff to reduce weed issues that are causing flooding in the Waimairi and Wairarapa Streams
>Support the establishment of a youth recreation project in Bryndwr
>Request the installation of Big Belly bins at Fendalton Park, Abberley Park and Jellie Park and investigate recycling options for parks
>Development of community safety initiatives in the Avonhead/Russley area
>Continue to advocate on behalf of residents regarding parking issues, particularly around the business areas in Russley and Roydvale
>Reinstating the Ilam Stream and fixing the water flow issues
>Upgrade of the toilets, changing room facilities and sports storage at Nunweek Park
>Construction of a shared footpath on Gardiners Road from Wilkinsons Road to Sawyers Arms Road
>Secure full funding for the installation of traffic lights at Breens/Harewood/Gardiners Road intersection

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
