Old School Sharpening
Old School Sharpening.
I will be at Lyttelton Market Colletts Corner Saturday 11th Jan
On the 18th Jan I will not be there but will resume weekly on 25th Jan.
Please contact me on 02040102707 to arrange sharpening of secateurs, hedge shears ,axes, chisels tools, scissors, knives etc.
I have also made a range of Red Beech cutting boards. These are laminated using TITEBOND an English glue .USFDA approved for indirect food contact (cutting boards)T
I have also a supply of Red Beech that I purchased in the early 1990's from a demolition company in Ferry Rd.The timber was from a "dance hall in Lyttelton".This timber is finished to about 28mm so would have been from 1,1/2" and it was a "sprung" floor. We have tried to discover the origin of the hall and to date I have narrowed it down to a hall on Dublin St [East side] or the Harbour board Hall down on the Wharf area.I have made serving food platters from this flooring and used new and recycled handles at each edge. There is evidence of dancing on some boards and someone even left a cigarette burning on the floor!
These boards cost $2 per cm plus handles(these vary but less than $20)so a half metre grazing tray would be $120

Peter
