Have you had a scoop from NZ's oldest ice cream business?

Jake Kenny Reporter from Community News

Happy Monday neighbours,

It’s a Christchurch institution that is older than the cathedral and the electric tram, and now Ice Cream Charlie plans to go nationwide.

Have you had a scoop from the iconic ice cream van?

Founded in 1903 – one year before Christ Church Cathedral was completed – the company has been serving its famous Vanilla Ices from its cart in Armagh St on Victoria Square for generations.

On Sunday Mayor Lianne Dalziel unveiled the family firm’s new cart, Peggy, which replaces the old one which was built in the 1950s.

Did you manage to snag one of 1000 free ice creams over the weekend?
