English language consultant
If English is your second language, chances are you speak English with an accent. Is this an issue? No, of course not, unless your listener can't understand you. You know when that happens- your listener leans in a bit with a 'look' that tells you they aren't following what you're saying. Or, worse, they tell you to forget it and that it doesn't matter. If this is your experience, you could be missing out on jobs or promotions and your confidence will be suffering. This is your chance to change things. My name is Lisa and I am a qualified English language teacher with 30 years experience and have my own language school based here in Christchurch. Call me on 022 010 5288 for a chat about how I can help you. We can set up a free initial online consultation and I'll explain what is happening when you speak, why it's happening, and what you can do about it. I can help you to regain your confidence or aim for that promotion or new job.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
