Armed police in Addintgon - school lockdown enforced
An incident is taking place on the corner of Barrington Street and Lincoln Road in Addington. A St John ambulance is at the scene. There is also a large police presence at the Z petrol station.
What you need to know:
- Members of the public are advised to avoid the area around Whiteleigh Ave and Lincoln Road while staff work to resolve the situation safely.
- An eye witness said the motorway off-ramp further along Barrington St has also been closed and the petrol station forecourt has been blocked off with road cones.
- Initial reports are that a person has been seriously injured on Barrington St.
- Addington Te Kura Taumatua has been locked down. The school confirmed all children were safe and accounted for on Facebook, and said updates would be provided as the situation proceeded. “We are in a police [en]forced lockdown... Please avoid calling school and tying up phone lines,” the post said.
