There's so much happening in and around Christchurch, I thought I'd share my favourites, to make it easier for you to find something fun to do. I'll be updating the list every Monday, and keep an eye out on Friday's for my top tips for things to do over the weekend. Have a great week!

FRI OCT 6:
Circus, have-a-go Plus a Show: try out trapeze, globe, juggling, tightwire, and other circus arts at this Christchurch Circus Trust fundraiser at the Roy Stokes Hall, 152 Seaview Rd, New Brighton, 10.30am-1pm. Plus a performance from the trust's talented circus team. Entry by donation, $5-$10 appreciated.

SAT OCT 7:
Are Pasifika (House Pasifika): Local and international artists provide a feast of public art work for six weeks from Oct 7-Nov 18. Popping up all around the city, the artworks are linked via the SCAPE Public Art Walkway and connected by the theme Time in Space (territories and flow). Expect to be wowed by giant sculptures, intrigued by some complex themes, and even experience art in the sky. Managing curator, Heather Galbraith.

MON OCT 9:

Ministry of Fear: Ray Milland stars in this ultra-noir adaptation of Graham Greene's novel about Nazi saboteurs in wartime London, perhaps Fritz Lang's most Kafka-esque work. 1944, PG low level violence. Doors open at 7pm, show at 7.30pm at the Christchurch Art Gallery auditorium for Canterbury Film Society screening. The 2018 program will be released in February and start in March.

Poetry in Performance: The Canterbury Poets Collective performances with an open mic and guest readers, at Ara Imagetech Lecture Theatre, 5 Madras St, every Wednesday from now to November 15. Cost $6.

Step Ahead: annual art exhibition opens Oct 2 at 3.30pm at the Eastside Gallery (cnr Worcester St/Stanmore Rd. Runs to Oct 13. Inquiries (03) 981 2881. Coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week. Provides goal for Step Ahead trust members to work toward and opportunity to recognise their skill and achievement. Step Ahead provides social, physical, creative and educational activities for people with mental illness in Christchurch, Rangiora and Ashburton. Emirates Team New Zealand: The victorious team and the America's Cup will be at the Airforce Museum of New Zealand, Wigram, 7pm-9pm for an auction to raise funds for the quake-damaged Pleasant Point Yacht Club. Hear from Team boss Grant Dalton and speak to members of the team. Top auction prizes include a helicopter ride with Richie McCaw to a mystery destination, a ride in a dual sulky behind Monkey King, New Zealand's top earning harness racer, a Hot Lap around the Mike Pero Motorsport Park race with Greg Murphy and a signed, framed Emirates Team New Zealand Shirt. Passchendaele WW100: The Woolston Brass and the Christchurch Youth Choir will commemorate the Battle of Passchendaele at the Charles Luney Auditorium, 12 Winchester St, Merivale at 3pm. Door sales.
