Mother of All Clean Up River Event 2023 on Sat 13th May
Somerfield Residents Association is once again, delighted to be part of the annual Mother Of All Clean Ups event.
We will be meeting & having a debrief at 10 am at the Barrington St / Cashmere Rd bridge.
This is a great & fun annual community event organised by the Opawaho- Heathcote River Network & annually supported by our SRA Committee for tidying up the beautiful Ernle Clark Reserve banks!!
Thanks to Glenda Megget & our SRA organising team for assisting with this event once again!
No one is allowed to enter the river for rubbish- however, a record will be kept of any rubbish in the river & will be picked up by CCC staff after.
BYO gloves - otherwise there may be some spare gloves & bags etc provided.
Children are most welcome but need to be closely supervised by parents or care givers please.
We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday 13th May 2023!!

Poll: Pedestrian access is being extended to the Ōtakaro Avon River - good idea?
Pedestrian access from one of Christchurch’s favourite streets is being extended all the way to the Ōtakaro Avon River. This new 12m-wide pathway will give you a direct, easy route from the street to the river promenade ... perfect for a stroll, a coffee run, or just soaking up the riverside vibes.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
