Christchurch’s vigilante councillor Phil Mauger has been issued with a formal warning for digging an unauthorised trench used to sort a 10-year post-quake flooding problem.
The council has this week started work to lift the footpath on Pages Rd out of the typical flood levels, saying it had been planned since mid-July, before the trench was dug.
Does Mauger deserve to be punished? Give us your thoughts below.

My name is Jake, I'm The Press newspaper's newly appointed Neighbourly reporter for Canterbury and the South Island. I've worked in Stuff's Christchurch newsroom for ten months now where I previously covered breaking news. Neighbourly is growing as a popular tool to access local news and keep in touch with those around us, which we often miss with national media outlets. I'm here to bring you the news closest to you in a role which will work similarly to a community newspaper reporter.
If you have any stories or interesting things happening in your suburb or area, please get in touch!
If you see news posted in your area, please get involved and reply with your comments/thoughts on the issues at hand. I'm all for robust discussion and a bit of banter never went a miss.
Thanks in advance and I look forward to chatting with you all!

We use less than a teaspoon of sugar in each of the buns which gives them the colour and texture that makes them perfect for burgers.

A recent episode of Grand Designs UK, about a Paralympian whose marriage broke up during the build of his dream home, got us thinking. What are the best design features/products for a home if you are not fully abled? We'd like to hear from people who have adjusted their homes in some way to make life with a disability easier.

Marshland Rd is set to go from a 70 km/h speed limit to 60 km/h between Prestons Rd and the Main North Rd/Spencerville Rd intersection when it is recommended to council on Friday.
Do you think it should be lowered?

We offer a holistic approach to people’s well being through a shared assessment, referral and support system. Through one brand and one welcoming front door people can access multiple support options. The intention is to remove the structural barriers to services and supports that maintain social inequalities. Working collaboratively and living together under one roof means we can break down the silos between social services and share knowledge and data in order to be more effective for the people who need us most.
We are located on the first floor of Eastgate Shopping Center in Linwood, Christchurch and open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm. We welcome walk-in's for anyone who may need assistance.
