Burwood Community ANZAC Day service 25 April 2017

Kim Hillson from Waitākiri Primary School

ANZAC Day commemorations have been held at the Burwood Monument on the corner of Lake Terrace & New Brighton Roads for many years. However after the red zoning of the land around this area, the commemorations stopped.

Together with All Saints Church, New Brighton Road, we are very pleased to say that this year on ANZAC Day, 25 April at 11am a service will once again be held at the Burwood Monument on the corner of Lake Terrace & New Brighton Roads.

We would like to invite you, and any of your colleagues, families or community members to attend this service. Please spread the word and feel free to forward this email and/or flyer on to anyone who you think this service will be of interest. All are welcome!

We have invited representatives from the RSA, local churches, schools, Scouts, Cubs, Guides, Pippins, preschools, community boards, etc to attend. We encourage as many families from our community to attend and would like to see this once again being an annual event.

Please see the attached flyer for details.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
