HALSWELL COMMUNITY WELCOME BAGS

Kate Cleverly from Halswell Community Project

HALSWELL COMMUNITY WELCOME BAGS.
As another year draws to a close we are looking to generate a fresh batch of welcome bags to hand out to new residents to our awesome community.
The purpose of these bags is to welcome new residents by sharing goodies and information about what is available in the community.

So if you run/belong to a local group, club or organisation, now is the time to get creative to advertise your activities, programs or services :-) We try to avoid too many paper flyers so think about a small gift that represents your organisation - a pen, a balloon, a coffee sachet, a voucher or sample pack,

Local businesses are welcome to contribute but we would ask businesses to definitely include a gift or voucher of some kind

Contributions can be dropped into the Halswell Hub at 381 Halswell Rd until Wednesday 20th December or after Monday 8th Jan. Office hours are 9 - 12noon Monday - Thursday.

If you need more information, please feel free to contact me.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
