Love Where You Live - February 1st to 29th šŸ„°

The Team from Neighbourhood Support New Zealand

Love is in the air this month! Weā€™re not just talking about Valentineā€™s Day... weā€™re talking about this monthā€™s national campaign.

Our theme for February is all about finding ways to show your home and community a little extra love and care. Whether itā€™s organising a street clean up, helping a neighbour tidy up their property, putting together a working bee, or installing a communal pātaka or library - there are countless ways to make our neighbourhoods more enjoyable for everyone.

Donā€™t forget to share the love! Let us know how youā€™re improving your neighbourhood this month by email or tag us online and include the following hashtag:

Warnings about scams

The Team from New Zealand Police

This Fraud Awareness Week, weā€™re reminding everyone to stay sharp and look out for the warning signs of scams to stop them before they start.

Hereā€™s what to watch out for:
šŸ” Unrealistic offers or promises of easy money that are too good to be true
šŸ” Pressure tactics: Scammers may rush or threaten you to act immediately.
šŸ” Requests for personal info: Be cautious if youā€™re asked for bank details, passwords, or sensitive information.
šŸ” Unusual payment methods like gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers.
šŸ” Unverified contacts: Emails, calls, or messages from unknown or suspicious sources.

How to protect yourself:
āœ… Stop and think before sharing personal details or making payments.
āœ… Don't click on any links until you know that it is safe.
āœ… Verify the source: Contact the organisation directly using official channels.
āœ… If somethingā€™s not right, it's OK to hang up, walk away, ignore it and move on.

If you wish to report a scam, contact Police on 105 or report it online via 105.police.govt.nz/use-105.
