It’s not everyday children can race their bikes or trikes along Lambton Quay … so grab this opportunity while you can! With the roads closed off to traffic, three races will be held to cater for different age groups.
• Under 5's 400m criterium
• 5 to 9-years 1km criterium (1 lap of the NZCC circuit)
• 10 to 12-years 2km criterium (2 laps of the NZCC circuit)
Spot prizes. Participation Ribbons. Medal presentation on official cycling podium to follow all three races.

A truly unique opportunity to cycle along the smooth lanes of Lambton Quay, in the heart of Wellington city this summer. With roads closed off to traffic on Sunday, 17 January 2021, Cycle the Golden Mile is an opportunity for cyclists of all ages and abilities, and on all styles of bikes, to ride along Lambton Quay.
There is a fun Kid’s Criterium, a Celebrity Criterium featuring a who’s who of Wellington’s leading figures and two races for club riders.
Afterwards, line the Quay and soak up the festive atmosphere as New Zealand’s elite road cyclists race the fifth and final stage of the UCI 2.2 New Zealand Cycle Classic.
This will be a thrilling Criterium held on the same city streets followed by the presentation of the coveted Yellow Jersey to the Tour winner and overall classification jerseys from the previous four days of racing in Wairarapa.
