Seed sowing and so much more
We have Seed Sowing Sunday at the Carterton Farmers Market this week, as well as a variety of other stalls including NZTA doing some community consultation on SH2. With the weather forecast to be a bit inclement we'll be under the verandahs opposite Memorial Square this Sunday from 9.00am until 12.30pm.
For Seed Sowing Sunday you get to choose from a varied selection of veges, flowers and herbs - and get some guidance from a member of the team on how to germinate, tend and harvest your plants. This event is open to all - a gold coin donation gets you a tray, compost, seeds, and some helpful advice. Kids free. And for those of you that have room in your garden we have a limited number of free tomato plants to give away, donated from Helen Dew’s Garden for Life.
And while you are here you can try some of Rumya Pathmanathan's fresh and local baking - new to Carterton Farmers Market. Get your treat fix without any refined sugar, gluten or dairy. Cookies, breakfast biscuits and raw baking will be available. Come along and give them a try.
NZTA is going to be at the market, happy to chat to the community and get feedback on SH2 Masterton to Carterton safety improvements project. So if you some ideas on how to improve this problematic stretch of highway pop along and have your say.
Local Growers have their seasonal spray-free produce again this week. This includes avocados, limes, lemons, bay leaves, beetroot, bok choy, broadbeans, broccoli, cucumber, daikon, hazelnuts, kohlrabi, lambs quarters, lettuce, mizuna, new season potatoes,NZ spinach, pumpkin, radishes, rhubarb, silverbeet, zucchini, and free-range eggs.
Just Swimwear (aka Kids Kapers) will be here selling children and tots swimwear, as well as a variety of SPF clothing.
Elizabeth Hayes will be back selling her hand-made scented soy candles. Ideal as a gift, to burn in your own home, or with their long burning qualities, to tuck one or two in your civil defence kit.
Other stalls at the market this week include:
Adrianne's Crafts
Coffee on the Go
Elwin Farm
Garden for Life
Hensons Gardens
Maureen's Plants
Steve's Food Forest Plants
So pop along, with the variety of things to do or peruse you are bound to find something to pique your interest. It will be great to see you there.
Poll: 🤖 What skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?
The Reserve Bank has shared some pretty blunt advice: there’s no such thing as a “safe” job anymore 🛟😑
Robots are stepping into repetitive roles in factories, plants and warehouses. AI is taking care of the admin tasks that once filled many mid-level office jobs.
We want to know: As the world evolves, what skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?
