Quarter of dairy herd dies after nitrate poisoning. Has your farm been affected?
Around one quarter of a dairy herd near Cambridge are believed to have died of nitrate poisoning, with it also resulting in the abortions of calves.
Some farmers are giving cows and donating money to others to help replenish their herds when nitrate has struck. The poisoning occurred in the week of June 17 to 23.
