This is just a reminder about the Beginners' Workshop for Scottish Country Dancing which starts this Wednesday, 26th April 2023 at St Andrew's Church Hall (white church on the corner of Hamilton and Victoria Roads) starting at 7pm. Scottish Country Dancing has numerous health benefits (improved mental cognition, improved cardiovascular health, more flexibility with muscles, just to name a few). It can be likened to interval training where you have 2-3 minutes of good exercise and then you rest. More importantly, you are exercising without knowing it because you are having fun and making new life-long friends at the same time.
Please visit our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/CambridgeSCD) where you can see some examples of dancing and please don't hesitate to follow our page and share our posts. We really do want to grow our membership because not a lot of people actually know we do exist.

The workshop will run for 8 weeks for a cost of $30, which is deductible from a modest annual membership fee. At the end of the 8 week course you will be able to continue dancing on club nights. The workshop is to teach you the basic steps and formations to get you started. You don't need to be : fit or be Scottish or wear special clothing (loose fitting is ideal so you can move freely and soft-soled shoes are recommended - not trainers as they are too "grippy" on the wooden floor) and age is no barrier. Perhaps the children are now old enough to look after themselves for a few hours each Wednesday night to allow you to do something for yourself. It is a great way of making life-long friends and having fun, given the emphasis for Scottish Country Dancing is being social.
