Beginners' Workshop for Scottish Country Dancing

Lesley from Leamington

the Cambridge SCD is running a Workshop for Beginners/those wishing to refresh their skills commencing on the 26th April 2023 at 7pm. The workshop will run for 8 weeks for a cost of $30, which is deductible from a modest annual membership fee. At the end of the 8 week course you will be able to continue dancing on club nights. The workshop is to teach you the basic steps and formations to get you started. You don't need to be : fit or be Scottish or wear special clothing (loose fitting is ideal so you can move freely and soft-soled shoes are recommended - not trainers as they are too "grippy" on the wooden floor) and age is no barrier. Perhaps the children are now old enough to look after themselves for a few hours each Wednesday night to allow you to do something for yourself. It is a great way of making life-long friends and having fun, given the emphasis for Scottish Country Dancing is being social.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Wild weather in the Waikato

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Waikato really copped it over the weekend, with wild weather leaving a hefty clean-up bill that may run into the millions.

While things are looking calmer in the days ahead, there are still plenty of slips and flooded roads across the district — so if you’re heading out, take it easy and stay alert.

We want to know: How did you and your whānau get on over the weekend?
