Energyclubnz.com - Be Warned
The Matamata Chronicle has been heavily publicising energyclubnz.com, and I joined them, achieving a small saving on my weekly power bills. HOWEVER, when I needed to report a power outage late one Friday night, I discovered that they are contactable, only during business hours Mon-Fri 8am-6pm, by e-mail or online chat - which I was unable to do without any power. I rang Powerco, the local lines company, and was sympathetically told that they could not deal directly with me and the fault needed to be reported by energyclubnz (who I was unable to contact!). My problem was resolved after a neighbour reported the fault through a different energy supplier.
Energyclub have admitted to me "we are unable to give a time frame of when our faults and power outage process will be implemented including a 24/7 phone number to call in case of no hot water or power outages".
It is more important to me, living rurally, that I have a reliable power supply, and that outages can be remedied 24/7; rather than saving a small amount.
I have since transferred my electricity supply back to my original supplier, which energyclubnz did expedite smoothly.
If you are in similar circumstances, you may wish to consider other power suppliers
