The next agricultural and pastoral event is the 151st South Otago A&P Show at Balclutha next Saturday. The organisers have taken a hammering this week, with the suspected arson that destroyed a stable block at the Balclutha showgrounds. They're gutted but the show must go on: Check it out in this week's Clutha Leader and on Stuff:

Also added in a couple of my favourite photos not in the print issue: Katrina and Dennis Craigie - they feature in the gold star fire fighter award story page 3 in the Leader and on Stuff: www-alpha.stuff.co.nz...)
The Craigies are mellowing-out in Mallowpuff their camper at the Kai car show, and also John Martin of Cromwell in his 1926 Alvis TG Beetleback Roadster, which has been restored with an aluminium polish, at the 46th South Otago Vintage Car Club rally at Balclutha, along with Tony andJudy Gold of Balclutha, and their 1965 Nash Metropolitan. I want one - or all three of these quirky and well loved automobiles. I wouldn't be picky.
