A national dive squad from Wellington will arrive in the Catlins to join the search for two divers missing at Purakanui Bay. A large-scale search is underway for the pair missing since Saturday.

A large-scale search is underway for the pair missing since Saturday.
The divers, both men, aged 23 and 51, went into the water on Saturday at Purakaunui Bay, south of Balclutha, police said. Searchers headed out about 8pm but could not find the men, both from Balclutha, and the search was ended at midnight.
It resumed at 6am on Sunday with a helicopter, plane, boats, shore searchers, and divers. The search and rescue operation is now planning its next move to support the national dive squad. Read more.
