One woman had her younger years tainted by the fact that she shared her name with five others in her class, so she changed it as soon as possible.
Now her daughter Esmee is about to start full-time education but will be sharing her name with two others in her class.
Horrified by this the mother posted to an anonymous parenting site if it would be unreasonable to change her daughter's name.
What do you think?
Has anyone in Franklin had a similar name situation?
What did you do about it?

These classes help us as we age to retain lower body and core strength, remaining active to avoid falls.
No-one is bullet proof, falls happen and some can result in broken bones, pain and long healing times and can also make us fearful of falling again. Losing confidence can really affect quality of life.
Live Stronger for Longer strength and balance classes are growing nationwide. Visit www.livestronger.org.nz and join a class near you, you’ll find lots of practical information, advice and resources on how to live an active, healthy and independent life.
Proudly brought to you by ACC, MoH, HQSC and your local community health providers.

With the warmer weather still a few months away, it can be tempting to blast the heater or stay in the warm shower a little longer.
However, heating can be expensive, which is why Terry Johnson took heating into his own hands with his DIY solar heat collector.
Because of this Johnson and his family were able to heat there home for an estimated $1.50 per year.
Will any Franklin DIY fanatics be attempting this heating life hack?
Or do you have your own tricks for cost-effective heating in the winter?

Housing our growing population inevitably means building more houses in closer proximity to one another. It’s a big change for Kiwis who grew up with the idea of the ‘quarter acre paradise’. But research shows that residents of higher density suburbs actually tend to be happier and healthier. Read more here

Historically, car and other crime spikes from mid-July to early September and police are committed to this prevention-focused operation to address this peak period. Police will be targeting high crime areas such as carparks, shopping malls, gas stations and railway stations and known priority crime offenders.
Vehicle crime will be a particular focus for us and we know the most common types of cars targeted by thieves in this area are:
- Mazda Demio
- Subaru Legacy
- Mazda Familia
- Subaru Impreza.
Seventy per cent of vehicles that are stolen in the Auckland City District are recovered, however, the Police aim is to reduce the offending occurring in the first place. Operation Pencil will conclude on August 24, 2018.
More information at the Police website.

Hi all, a recent stuff article tackled a question most grocery buying kiwi have faced. Do I buy with my conscience and grab the free-range eggs? Or do I focus on the purse strings and go for the caged option?
