Today marks 3 months since we opened the doors to the Bloom Pukekohe Op Shop, and we want to send out a HUGE ngฤ mihi nui โ€” thank you to everyone who has been part of this wild ride! ๐Ÿ’›
It all began with the trust and confidence IHC New Zealand placed in Bloom Pukekohe, giving us the opportunity to take over the Counties IHC Op Shop. We're proud to continue empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to grow, learn, and live fulfilling lives in our community.
A heartfelt shoutout to Furniture Clearance Centre and the Franklin Local Board for helping us secure our amazing store location โ€” and for your ongoing support. ๐Ÿ™Œ
To the awesome crews at Fortitude and Tilyards โ€” thank you for making our big move smooth and seamless. ๐Ÿš›๐Ÿ’ช
We are also incredibly grateful to Lotto NZ, the NZ Lottery Grants Board and Foundation North for their continued support โ€” your contributions help make this all possible. ๐Ÿ™
A huge thank you to our dedicated team and board, whose hard work and vision drive everything we do. And to our incredible volunteers who show up each day with passion and purpose. We appreciate each and every one of you.โค๏ธ
Finally, to our wonderful community โ€” your generosity, kindness, and encouragement have been nothing short of inspiring. From donations and shopping visits to kind words and shared stories, you've made this journey so special.
Hereโ€™s to many more months of making a blooming difference, together. ๐Ÿ’ซ

NZ Civil Defence are testing the Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) system on Sunday 25 May, between 6-7pm โš ๏ธ๐Ÿ“ฒ

If you have a hidden second phone for your safety, we recommend turning it off or putting it in flight mode for the duration of the test (6-7pm on Sunday 25 May) to ensure itโ€™s not discovered when the nationwide Emergency Mobile Alert is sent.

Some mobile devices set to silent mode will still emit a sound when the Emergency Mobile Alert test is sent, so switching to flight mode or turning off your device is the only way to avoid the loud sound of the alert.

You can find more information about the Emergency Mobile Alert system, including a factsheet and list of FAQs at www.getready.co.nz

Poll: Is it illegal to have fog lights on when there's no fog?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The answer is yes, it is illegal. And yet in New Zealand it's fairly common to see drivers hitting the road with their fog lights on when it's simply dark.

Those who have sat their written drivers test recently will be in the know, but be honest, did you know it was illegal?

โ€œTHE NEW BATTLE FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTSโ€ Jill Ovens will be speaking at the BPW Franklin dinner meeting on May 28th 6.30pm for 7pm, in Pukekohe.
Over the past decade and largely under the radar, publicly funded lobby groups have promoted an agenda that has put the rights of women and girls at risk.
At the same time womenโ€™s voices have been shut down in our universities, public service, the mainstream media and our unions. Jobs have been put at risk if people dare to question gender ideology. Lesbians have been thrown out of Pride events and are having to defend themselves in the Human Rights Tribunal.

Ironically it is women who have willingly ceded our spaces, allowing our organisations and our unions to be co-opted by the politics of โ€œkindness and inclusivityโ€ to the exclusion of womenโ€™s issues and rights.
Who would have thought that more than 130 years after New Zealand women fought for and won the right to vote, the first self-governing country in the world to have womenโ€™s suffrage, we would need to organise to protect our hard-won rights?

If you would like to attend please register with catering@bpwfranklin.org.nz and pay $35 to BPW Franklin Inc account 02 0404 0100956 00 by Sunday prior. You will be informed of the venue when you register. We look forward to welcoming you
