Heartbeats Hosts Talk by Waitakere Hospital Cardiac Nurse Specialists

Heartbeats is hosting a talk on heart disease and heart failure, by the Cardiac Rehabiliation Nurse Specialist team from Waitakere Hospital on Thursday November the 6th at 1pm.

If you are a heart patient, a heart event survivor, or even a spouse or partner, this is a great opportunity to hear from some of our best cardiac nurse specialists, who are working on the frontline, with cardiac patients from across West Auckland.

It's friendly, informal and an open, honest discussion on what works in treating heart failure and what is needed to build a longer, healthy life.

Heartbeats is the largest community-led, peer-to-peer cardiac support group in Aotearoa New Zealand. With over 300 members in Auckland alone, this non-profit charity, offers mental wellbeing support, education and cardiac exercise-based rehabilitation to heart patients, everywhere.

Poll: Should we ditch daylight saving? 🕰️

First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.

While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.

And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?
