Jo and Rachel talked about what's going on in their own backyards and suggested some edible crops you can sow and grow yourself. Jo gave a masterclass in planting tomatoes, the pair discussed peeing on lemon trees and keeping cats out of your vege beds, and Rachel talked to a Central Otago gardener who has to deal with extreme temperatures, extreme drought... and temperamental donkeys. You can also follow the conversation on Spotify and Stitcher. Let your friends know too!

Dr Bachmann has noticed that there is immediate action required concerning education in oral health. In her daily practice, she sees mostly kids and teenagers and is quite surprised how little everybody seems to know about oral hygiene. It is fun, educational, and entertaining. The feedback from staff and parents is always positive. The highlights of the session are the pink tablets that she hands out to the kids to show them where they missed out on brushing. If your school is interested, now or in the future, in her free service for class 7 to 8 students, feel free to get in contact with Bachmann Orthodontics 094481128.

These are part of the planning for the planting mitigation required by the resource consent to build the new Harbour Hockey Stadium. This activity has NOT, nor has it ever, been approved by the Local Board for this area! It should never have been part of the resource consent that Harbour Hockey and their NZTA benefactors applied for, as it is outside the area leased to Harbour Hockey. The Local Board has previously advised Council Officers involved in the Hockey Project that we did not support planting here because it impacted both informal and planned formal walking tracks. We are currently requesting an explanation as to why this surveying has proceeded.

Note that while the decision to locate the new Harbour Hockey stadium was a divisive one; this is a separate issue. To the best of my knowledge no one on the Local Board would seek to review that decision at this stage of construction. However we do want to work with Harbour Hockey and the NCI project to find a more suitable place in Rosedale Reserve to meet the requirements of their resource consent.
