Motorists called to prepare for lane changes at Greville Rd on-ramp
Commuters can prepare themselves for an earlier merge at the Greville Rd southbound on-ramp on the northern motorway.
Lane changes in effect from March 15 will see the ramp's T2 lane merge earlier than the current layout.
Motorists using the lane should take extra care as they approach the motorway, especially during peak times, said Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency National Manager Infrastructure Delivery, Andrew Thackwray.
The existing bus lane towards Constellation Dr will boast barriers in place to separate it from traffic.
Drivers are advised to follow messaging on the electronic signs.
They can use Albany's Oteha Valley Rd interchangeas an alternative to the busy Greville Rd on ramp.
The temporary layout will be in place until September to pave the way for work replacing Rosedale Bridge.
The SH1 southbound lanes will be closed between Greville Rd and Upper Harbour Highway overnight on March 14 from 9 pm to 5 am.
Detours will be in place.
The changes are part of a project to open up the Western Ring Route, extending the Northern Busway to Albany along with creating walking and cycling paths.
