LG WASHING MACHINE WARRANTY, OR LACK OF.
5th July 2019. I have an LG washing machine that died on 30th May . It has a 10 year warranty and was purchased on the 28th January 2012 from "The Good Guys" at Botany. The Good Guy's went bankrupt on 6th April 2018 so I can not return to them to sort it out for me. I phoned LG Electronics when it died but was fobbed of by them because I could not find my receipt though I had my bank statement with the payment on it.
It still has 2 1/2 years left on the warranty.
I was not told by the salesman when I purchased the machine that LG appliances warranty is not a full warranty, LG will only supply the parts for their warranty, and the customer must pay ALL labour costs for LG to HONOUR their warranty.
I approached LGs service agents and paid for a check of the machine. LGs service agent noted on the invoice. "NOT WORTH REPAIR". Seven years only for a washing machine??
The body of the machine had rust around the joins after only two years. The body of the LG machine only has a warranty for two years.
On the 25th June after I had the agents check done, I sent a copy of the invoice and a photo of the serial number from my machine to LG. I received a reply which stated I would hear from the resolution team immediately.
The first three letters of the serial number are 112 which I have been told tells them that it was manufactured in January 2012. The same month and year I purchased it.
I still am waiting for a reply from LG as to whether they will honour the warranty or not.
How long should I wait before I contact the Commerce Commission.
