Northcote Point wharf opening postponed.
UPDATE: Unfortunately Monday's official opening of the new Te Onewa Northcote Wharf and the start of the Northcote ferry service have both been postponed.
Northcote Point wharf was due to reopen to the public on Monday and the ferry was set to be running again for the first time in two years.
The wharf has been renamed to Te Onewa Northcote Point, making it the first dual-named wharf on Auckland's ferry network.
It was closed in 2018 due to structural deterioration- the wooden structure under the deck had to be either repaired or replaced.
The $2.6 million work to renew the 60-year-old pier started in July and finished at the end of the year under budget despite the disruption caused by Covid-19.
Auckland Transport also upgraded the shelter for ferry users, installed new seating, improved security and lighting at the quay.

We have received proof of him trying to get his hands on advertised puppies today. He has also been seen commenting on many livestock ads.
It is absolutely critical that we spread the word all around Auckland about this serial animal abuser and killer.
