’Fashion hound’ struts West Auckland streets in denim jacket
Aucklanders found a way to participate in the greyhound global walk over the weekend despite alert level 4 restrictions in place.
Greyhound owners took park in solo walks in their separate bubbles, and shared photos of their endeavours on social media.
Te Atatū Peninsula resident Alannah Flitcroft, 26, dressed her 4-year-old greyhound Van in denim to match the theme of blue.
“He’s quite the fashion hound,” she said.
Flitcroft adopted Van in December after he failed in the foster system.
“He’s such a friendly, happy, go-lucky dude. I just find greyhounds very cool they’re lovely gentle natured dogs,” she said.
“I’ve grown up with greyhounds as a child, even then I would hop into bed with them, they’re just so placid and gentle.”
The event is run by the charity Greyhounds for Pets which aims to raise awareness around the suitability of greyhounds as pets.
600 people took part in the event across the country, and it coincided with the 15th anniversary of the charity.
