Kitten Season is Here
Summer is kitten season, the time of year when cats breed and thousands of kittens need SPCA’s help. The warmer season is only just beginning, but already SPCA centres are finding themselves inundated with hungry mouths.
These kittens have been abandoned, neglected, are desperately sick or very young. My team and others across the country are rapidly prepping everything we need to help kittens in need, but we can't do it without you.
Please, we need your help to care for them.
Currently, the numbers are in the 100s and continue to rise every day. Soon it'll be in the 1000s.
Our Christchurch Centre has more than 80 kittens in our care, our Wellington Centre around 70, and our Auckland Centre over 100.
They are not yet ready to be adopted so every kitten needs round-the-clock care, veterinary treatment and somewhere warm to snuggle and be monitored.

Please help if able. Thank you.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
