Media Workshops

Paul from Devonport

Kia ora..
I'm planning to run four media-based, in-person workshops at my home near Devonport, with a late October/early November start. The course will include free induction material. The workshops have been well-researched. I will have them peer-reviewed.

My background is as a sports freelance writer. I have been published by Stuff, the Herald and newsroom.co.nz (LockerRoom). I also teach English to second language learners.

I worry for the future of news, around issues of integrity and ethics. My goal is that workshop participants will care enough about the subject of news to want to become active in protecting its value and trust. And for participants to perhaps consider becoming involved in the media field through freelancing or more.

See attached for further information on what will be covered in the four workshops and the cost of each- which I've sought to keep as reasonable as possible :)

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
