Double Photography Exhibitions - ends next week Tuesday & Thursday!
Since the introduction of commercial photography studios, and later Kodak cameras, art photographers have had to fight for their medium to be recognised as more than a mechanical recording device.
Depot Artspace’s adjacent galleries are dedicated to the limitless creative force of photography for another week as part of the Auckland Festival of Photography, from decomposed analogue Polaroid’s to digitally manipulated prints.
They Were Young Once brings together the works of photographers both iconic and emerging. Great artists start somewhere, and it is their commitment over time that embeds their work in our cultural psyche and sense of place.
These prints are accessibly priced thanks to the support of our friends at Soar Print, and framed works by Jae Hoon Lee and Peter Peryer have been generously loaned by Charnwood Trust.
Composition/Decomposition by Linda Jarrett examines the metamorphosis of the banal to the extraordinary by an experimental process of decaying Polaroid photographs.
Pop by this Sunday 20 June 11-3 for the final artist on site to meet the photographers. Exhibitions end next week Tuesday (They Were Young Once) & Thursday (Linda Jarrett)

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
