Pump Tract Information Day Woodall Park, Devonport.

Libby Boyd from Devonport Rotary Club

Information Day
Woodall Park BMX Pump Track
20 June at 11am

Woodall Park near the Squash Club

WHAT WILL THE TRACK BE LIKE?

It will be a 400 metres long unpaved BMX track through the trees at the western end of Woodall park, Narrow Neck. The design allows for it to be built in stages.

It’ll be suitable for all ages and abilities of riders: from young learners to older ‘full-on’ awesome riders.

WHERE IS THE PROJECT AT?

The pump track through the trees was started by local kids through the trees. Devonport Rotary approached the Council and Local Board who have enthusiastically endorsed the project and are assisting with resource consent. A lease change of the Waitemata Golf Club has made available the land under the trees to become part of Woodall Park

Local cycling enthusiast Tim White has offered lots of practical advice on track layouts and other technical matters.

WHEN WILL IT START AND HOW YOU CAN HELP?

Rotary is confident that the resource consent will be granted soon and now want to start the planning for getting construction underway in the spring. Rotary has some funds available but needs the help of local volunteers and sponsors who can help with

• fundraising e.g setting up a Givealittle page

• working bees

• sponsorship.

• donations of materials.

• Applying for grants from charitable trusts

a GiveaLittle page

Come along to the information day to share your ideas on how we can make this community asset a real taonga for our children (of all ages).

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
