Papers, please?

Iain from Devonport

"I haven't got my voting papers, what should I do?" It's a question the Heart of the Shore team are hearing a lot when we're out in the community. Make sure you have your say on how we make our Local Area the place we want it to be.

Independent Election Services (IES) run the election for Auckland Council, their freephone number is 0800 922 822.

If you're not enrolled, it can still be done by going to any PostShop or any public library.

If you're overseas, as of yesterday (1 October), IES said it was still fast-posting, at its expense, to hotels, hostels, and embassies. If you receive your papers overseas it will be up to you to have them returned in time. I was told many will choose to do this by express international courier. Email for IES: info@electionservices.co.nz

Also, Auckland Council are running what they call One Stop Shops where you can enrol, and vote at the same time. Here's a link to a page showing proposed venues for the One Stop Shops: www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz...

The programme for the One Stop Shops says they're subject to change so hopefully they'll rock-up to Takapuna Market (pictured) on Sunday - we reckon more than half those attending the market are from outside the Local Area, from East, West and South Auckland.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Poll: 🤖 What skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Reserve Bank has shared some pretty blunt advice: there’s no such thing as a “safe” job anymore 🛟😑

Robots are stepping into repetitive roles in factories, plants and warehouses. AI is taking care of the admin tasks that once filled many mid-level office jobs.

We want to know: As the world evolves, what skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?
