Manukau East Council of Social Services (MECOSS), facilitates two community networking platforms; the Pakuranga & Howick Community Networking Meeting and the Botany & Flat Bush & Ormiston Community Networking Meeting.
Both platforms enable community organisations, social services providers, government agencies and the general public a forum to connect and network with each other and to share information about their own activities.
These meetings also provide an opportunity for like-minded individuals and groups operating within the Manukau East locality to form collaborative working relationships.
Community meetings take place 11 times per year. The Pakuranga & Howick Community Networking meeting is held at Te Tuhi in Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct and Dec and the Botany & Flat Bush & Ormiston Community Networking Meetings is held at the Old Flat Bush School Hall in Mar, May, Jul, Sept and Nov.
Scheduled to take place on a Friday between 1.30pm and 3:00pm, both community meetings begin with a 30 minute speaker presentation, followed by a round-robin of 5 minute introductions and ending with an opportunity to network over a light afternoon tea.

My eagle eyed wife spotted that the charge for this quarter was 15% higher than the last instalment, so I checked the time period (maybe this quarter covered a longer time period) but no significant difference. So we paid the same amount as last quarter and will require a letter of explanation before they get another red cent. The really annoying thing as others have pointed out is that they dont give a stuff about ratepayers, are quite happy to destroy our neighbourhoods in the name of progress (remember, anything done in the name of progress of man benefits only one wealthy group at the expense of everyone else) and use ratepayers as a piggy bank to fund their vanity projects. For example, Britomart which wrecked passenger rail transport in Auckland and now this idiotic light rail to the airport which will benefit nobody in our East Auckland neighbourhood, in our, or even our children's lifetimes.
Hmmm, Waihi is starting to look good.

The parents of missing French teenager Eloi Rolland are pleading for information on his whereabouts on what is his first birthday since his disappearance.
Rolland should have been celebrating his 19th birthday surrounded by friends and family in France on Thursday, but he has not been seen or heard from since CCTV spotted him in West Auckland on March 7.
Rolland’s parents Thierry and Catherine Rolland, who have been unable to travel to New Zealand due to the coronavirus pandemic, posted a renewed call for information on West Auckland’s community Facebook pages.
Written as if it were coming from their son, the post read: “Today, Thursday, [I turn] 19 years old. But I am a missing person. My parents are looking for me, their heart is with me and [they] hope to find me safe and sound.
I am appealing for witnesses, if since my disappearance I have been seen or spoken to by anyone, please inform my family or the NZ Police [sic]."

I'm so excited to finally be sharing a project our team has been working on for a while now: First Rung, our first podcast!
First Rung is packed with tips, advice and anecdotes from experts and home owners on every aspect of buying your first home - it also comes with a chance to win a $500 Resene prize pack.
Over six, bite sized episodes, we cover everything from saving that deposit, to sunset clauses, to how to get your newly purchased home ready to move into.
We'll also introduce you to ordinary Kiwis, just like you, who have navigated the choppy waters of home buying in NZ and made it onto that first rung - and pick their brains for how they did it.
We all know buying a home is one of the toughest, most daunting things we might ever do as adults, so it doesn't hurt to get some expert advice and support. That's what we wanted to give you with First Rung.
So give it a listen and let us know what you think - and be in to win that mint Resene prize pack. I can't enter and I'm well jealous!
