One in three older people living in Auckland’s eastern suburbs has difficulty to get around, particularly if they don’t drive a car anymore, of if they find public transport challenging.
MECOSS helps older people to be more independent and get out to do their shopping, by providing a door-to-door transport service that runs every Thursday on alternate weeks to Botany Town Centre or Pakuranga Plaza.
The Manukau East Shopping Shuttle picks clients up from their home in the morning for two hours of shopping and returns them early afternoon.
$10 includes the return trip and a cup of coffee or tea.
A companion shopper or mobility equipment is available if assistance is required.
Pick up areas include: Bucklands Beach peninsula, Pakuranga, Howick, Botany, Dannemora, Chapel road and Stancombe road. To book, please call 0800 632 677

Last week, California-based company Lime launched 600 electric scooters (e-scooters) in Auckland and 400 in Christchurch. Cameron Swanson from Lime's new market development department, said the app took the number one download spot on the New Zealand App Store in under 24 hours.More information here
