Teen Jobs

While looking for some part time work, I discovered that there was no easy way to find the jobs that were out there. Established job websites are for older people & there was nothing for school students looking for part time work. This is when the idea was born, a free to use website for connecting teenagers wanting to get a job & employers and households with work to do!

I entered the Young Innovator Awards, for my website idea called Teen Jobs. I was fortunate enough to come in 3rd place for the junior category. One of the judges at YiA, Suan Yeo, (Google’s Head of Education for Australia & New Zealand), commented, "Teen Jobs really stood out for the thought about the end user.” After my success at YiA, I was encouraged to develop the idea, as it would make a real difference to teenagers & the way they find work. The youth unemployment rates in New Zealand are very high, with 11.2% of 15 – 19 year olds unemployed. This costs the government $345 million dollars a year! This website can help those teenagers find employment and gain valuable employment related skills.

Since the Young Innovators Awards I have developed the my idea into a fully operational website. Teen Jobs is an innovative idea that enables teenagers to find jobs, while being completely free. Students and teenagers list themselves on a database with the areas they want to work and employers and households can simply search and find teenagers to do the jobs they require. This flips the traditional way where the employer lists the job which proves impractical for smaller or part time jobs. Job categories include everything from household work like lawn mowing or babysitting right through to retail and business positions.

Over the last 6 months, Teen Jobs has been successfully operating in Tauranga & have over 750 teenagers registered, with over 30 job offers per week. Teen Jobs has now expanded to the rest of New Zealand. We are registering teenagers now! And will be going live to employers and households on the 1st of June 2019!

Did you consult a specialist orthodontist or a dentist with a special interest in orthodontics?
What is the difference?
First of all, both are qualified dentists and have to work in their profession for a minimum of 3 years.
.
An orthodontist is a dentist who undertakes an additional 2 to 3 years of university fulltime training and studies in Orthodontics. Only an orthodontist has the post-graduate training to practice orthodontics. Some dentists have an extra interest in orthodontics and may feel they are able to diagnose straight forward orthodontic problems.
.
Orthodontists are focused and specialised in straightening teeth, making them bite together correctly along with treating skeletal irregularities.
.
The New Zealand Association of Orthodontists (NZAO) is a professional organisation dedicated to ensuring you receive high-quality specialist orthodontic care. Members of the NZAO must have a recognised post-graduate qualification in orthodontics and are required to undergo regular professional development to maintain standards.
Some dentists also provide orthodontic treatment for adults and children. They provide non-specialist orthodontic treatment and treat patients without knowledge of the full range of possible treatment options.
Only an orthodontist can offer a specialist diagnosis and see the full picture of treatment options.
.
Many cases will require specialist treatment. Your dentist may advise you if the treatment required is outside their expertise; however, if you are not sure do not hesitate to seek a second opinion. You don’t need a referral from your dentist or dental therapist to make an appointment with a specialist orthodontist.

There is a similarity to orthodontics. The tools, you can choose from, are nearly the same: Like speed braces, invisible ceramic braces, gold, silver or metal ones, or Invisalign aligners.
These are only tools for different kind of treatments. Most important is who drives the therapy to reach the best results for your case and of course, the professional team behind. You can have the best car in the world if you are not able to drive it, you will not win the race.
