When the Black Ferns Sevens won in Tokyo on Saturday night, it marked the 50th time New Zealand had won gold at the Olympic Games, a feat that took 101 years to reach.

We love beautiful smiles.
Protect your teeth during contact sports. Always wear a mouthguard. It will protect your teeth/lips and prevent you from biting yourself during strenuous sports like rugby, football, basketball, hockey or boxing ...!
Get your custom-fitted mouthguard and make it part of your team sports gear.

WILL BRACES AFFECT your SPORTS & EXERCISE?
Your braces won’t stop you from playing sports, but you’ll need to take some extra precautions during these activities.
.
Always wear a mouthguard. It is a rule you should follow, even if you don’t have braces, because it will protect your teeth.
.
Braces are made to fit comfortably in your mouth, but if you get hit with a ball or the shoulder of a teammate, they can do some serious damage, so the mouth guard is vital whenever you head out to play.
If your school is interested in participating in our mouthguard sponsorship program, please send us an email and discuss what we can do for you. dres.bachmann@gmail.com
If you or a loved one needs help with your smile, do not hesitate and make an appointment today at 09448 1128. What can we do to make you smile?

Did you know that our Incognito braces have golden brackets?
Incognito braces are a bracket and wire system that is placed behind the teeth. Manufactured by 3M Germany, Incognito braces are at the cutting edge of invisible brace technology. We’ve talked a lot about Incognito braces on our site because they are such a popular teeth alignment option, especially for our adult patients. Bachmann Orthodontics have trained, certified and specialised in Incognito braces for several years. This is because they believe they have no equal in hidden brace technology. Incognito brace brackets AND wires are custom made for each individual patient, ensuring a perfect fit.

We also offer a lot of other options for your customised Bachmann smile, like, Speed braces, Damon Clear Ceramic Braces or Invisible aligners.
.
Call Candice 094481128 and make an appointment today to discuss the best option for you or your child.
.
By the way, we have flexible interest free payment options.

Dear neighbours,

Please meet Alyce Read of Nelson, who uses her houseplant collection to connect with others and help them overcome mental health challenges. "You wouldn’t take a plant and put it in a dark corner and fail to water it and expect it to thrive. So we should look at ourselves that way," she says. "If we are not thriving in the way that we would wish, it might not be any fault of ours, it might be the conditions that we are under."

All it takes is a kind gesture to change someone’s day. From giving flowers to a neighbour ‘just because’ to paying it forward in line at a cafe - this month we’re encouraging our members and supporters to make New Zealand a better place one random act of kindness at a time.

The options for doing so are endless! Being kind doesn’t have to cost a thing, after all a smile is free. For those who want to go the extra mile, here’s some other ideas: take a gift over to new neighbours and introduce yourself, build a free community library for your street, buy extra kai at the grocery store to donate to a food bank, bring treats into work for colleagues, send an encouraging text to someone who needs it, let a car into the traffic ahead of you, write positive messages in chalk on sidewalks around your neighbourhood, or surprise loved ones with a visit.

Want to share your thoughts? Let us know how you’re spreading kindness this month by tagging us in your social media posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to:

Last year Soroptimist International North Shore provided a laptop to a young woman to help with her studies. The laptop made a significant difference to her educational progress and achievement.
She says, "Learning has become so much easier with having online access to all my learning materials and I'm able to study at home. The laptop has helped me focus more on my learning and I find I can complete my learning more easily and it has openned more learning opportuntiies for me."

This year we have partnered with Soroptimist International San Diego to offer this unique education grant in for women on the North Shore who provide the primary financial support for their families. Giving some financial support to further their education, skills and employment prospects in the future.

The recipient may use the funds provided in any way which directly supports her costs to support her to attain higher education skills or formal qualifications. This may include, but is not restricted to fees, books, transport or tuition, therefore enabling the recipient to focus on her studies rather than the challenge of some of the costs involved.
Applications close 15 August.

Hey neighbours,

Restaurant Month is back for another year, set to bolster the Auckland culinary scene by offering discounted dishes and unique events for the entire month of August.

Gastronomes can expect 31 days of specially curated menus at the value-for-money price points of $25, $40 or $55+.

Restaurants included span those from the waterfront to the CBD, and from stalwarts such as Euro, Botswana Butchery and Odettes Eatery, to the newcomers and the underdogs.

Viv Beck, Heart of the City chief executive, said this year’s lineup is “more world-class than ever” thanks to the “inspiring lineup of chefs”, some of whom have recently returned to Auckland from stints overseas.

The competition will see amateur aviators design, build and then fly contraptions in a bid to be crowned winner.

The thousands of people set to descend upon Wynyard Quarter to see the event are likely to keep business booming for local hospitality hotspots.
