EPHEMERAL ART is a work of art that only lasts for a short amount of time, perhaps occurs once, and cannot be embodied in any lasting object. It can be a sculpture, performance art, or a temporary design such as mandalas.
Creating art inspired by nature helps children express themselves, tune into the natural world, and also to express their own appreciation of nature. Nature art can also enhance nature connection in a child, as one recent study found.
The beauty of ephemeral nature art is that it can teach children that not everything we value has to be material. Not everything we create has to be taken home or even returned to. The process of making art is fulfilling enough to be the focus at times. Creating ephemeral art teaches kids about the impermanence of life and nature, as the most beautiful things such as a winterscape or a sunset aren’t permanent. More than an image seen with our eyes, ephemeral artwork is an actual moment in time.

Thanks to a member of the public, Keysar and Saving Hope Foundation, they’ve been rescued and nurtured. Timmy is currently fostered in Albany. His approximate dob is 11.04.23 and parentage unknown. He’s an active and inquisitive little boy and very smart. He already comes when called and sits. He is learning his toilet manners. Timmy has a really keen nose and absolutely rocks his eyebrows! If you have a suitable home you can open to Timmy you’ll be one of a list of angels that have ensured this little boy gets a healthy, fun and loving life. This role entails sitting with the children, having a chat while they eat and handing out some creative activities to do for those who are fast eaters! Afterwards, weather permitting, volunteers take the children to the field adjacent to Mairangi Arts Centre and keep an eye on them while they burn off some energy.
Requirements:
Reliable, enjoy being around children, kind, caring. No Police record.
Date periods : 3-7 July and 10-13 July
Time Commitment
Shifts start at 11.30am for approximately two hours. If you can only help one day that's fine, any assistance is appreciated.
Complimentary Milo, cookie and sandwich provided on the day for those that can assist us.
