11am-12pm: Tour #1 of the research centre

12pm-1pm: Presentation in the Whare Wananga:
Researching your Scottish family history using Auckland Libraries’ resources with Marie Hickey.
Got Scottish ancestors? Then this talk could be of use to you. Do you know what resources are on the internet, but do know what the Auckland Libraries have?
Marie Hickey will help you plan your visit to the Central City Library and will explore the wide range of resources held in the Research Centre (Central). This talk covers the basic material used when starting out as well as some of the lesser-known and more unusual resources. Come along and find out what treasures are waiting for you.

1pm-1.30pm: Tea and coffee in the Atrium

1.30pm-2.30pm: Tour #2 of the research centre

1.30pm-5pm: Research assistance available from library staff and the Scottish Interest Group of the NZ Society of Genealogists.
For those attending in person who don't need to view the presentation and/or have a tour, assistance for research will be available from 10am onwards.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Home made bread problem

Is anyone else having trouble with bread dough not rising properly?

I used to be able to turn out a decent loaf but now the bread is half the height - if that - and very dense.

I've used 4 different brands of yeast including the type bakers use to no avail. I've changed the flour to the best available and I've followed the recipe meticulously.

It can only be the flour?

What do you think?
