Uncontrolled intensification

Raquel from Remuera

Dear all, while intensification in Auckland may be necessary, the way the Labour goverment has decided to implement it - supported by National and the Greens - will result in the loss of quality of life in many areas, not to mention other problems. And the worse part is that the resulting houses are actually more expensive and less affordable!
The Auckland Unitary Plan has already in place a project to increase the number of houses according to the infrastructure capacity, environment protection, traffic limits, character and heritage status of every area, at a cost of 75 million of ratepayers money. Why on earth this government wants to scrap it, build to the maximum every available piece of land without consideration of the impact, not even providing for parking on site? Why this legislation was passed so quickly without involving key stakeholders like councils and removing our right for resource consent?
Please take a look at this petition and sign if you agree that we have legitimate reasons to reject this legislation.
Together, we have the power to stop it:

Poll: Should we ditch daylight saving? 🕰️

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.

While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.

And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?
