WE DESPERATELY NEED PET THERAPY VOLUNTEERS

The Team from

Do you or any friends or family members have an exceptionally social and well-mannered animal? We’re currently looking for new SPCA Outreach Therapy Pet Volunteers.

We believe that pet therapy can help people in institutions where they may feel isolated and lonely. As a volunteer with the programme, you (and your pet!) will be bringing joy and comfort to people in rest homes, hospitals, and mental health wards.

Prior to being accepted into the programme, all animals undergo an assessment that measures their sociability, temperament, obedience and confidence. Unfortunately we are unable to accept animals that show signs of fearfulness or aggression. Animals are also required to undergo a Vet Health Check to ensure they are vaccinated, microchipped, desexed and in good health. Volunteers who are accepted will receive training and be placed at a facility they can continue to visit (typically weekly or fortnightly) on an ongoing basis.

If you and your animal are interested in volunteering with Outreach Therapy Pets please visit our website for more information and to apply.

Thank you for offering to share the joy your animal gives you with others.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Poll: 🤖 What skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Reserve Bank has shared some pretty blunt advice: there’s no such thing as a “safe” job anymore 🛟😑

Robots are stepping into repetitive roles in factories, plants and warehouses. AI is taking care of the admin tasks that once filled many mid-level office jobs.

We want to know: As the world evolves, what skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?

Emma’s wedding dress reveal tells a different love story

Bert Sutcliffe Retirement Village

A Valentine’s-inspired wedding dress show at Ryman Healthcare’s Logan Campbell Village is providing the perfect opportunity for residents to share memories of their romantic day.

But for Emma Muller, it has also turned into an opportunity to celebrate her late daughter Nicola, who died 19 years ago at the age of 37.
